Pilates is an exercise method created by Joseph Pilates.  Pilates requires control, concentration, mind-body awareness, flowing movement and precision.

Pilates is a complete system of stretching and strengthening.   Joseph Pilates stated that his method "develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit".  Pilates also increases strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and is a perfect performance enhancement no matter what your fitness level may or may not be.

 

Pilates on the Reformer

Pilates on the Reformer uses spring tension machines and your own body weight to create exercises that will stretch and strengthen your muscles. By integrating the breath in smooth, controlled movements, the body develops longer and leaner muscles that are supported from the joint. Executing each movement with proper alignment and clear intention can only leave you feeling and looking great.  The result is a strong, yet flexible, well toned body, without muscle bulk.
